25.Mar.2008
It started jokingly but went on throughout the whole day and that was the rain. At about 10:30 am It had started pouring heavily and knowing these rains of ours we knew the best it could take could be 45minutes but that was not the case.
We got on road heading to Jinja which is over 80Kms from Kampala and trust me by the time we got there it was still raining heavily. The journey took about one hour and a half.
Well settled in and patiently waiting for the rain to stop but this did not happen. It was 4:30pm and it was still raining heavily making it look like in the west where raining for over 5 hours or so is very normal.
We decided on the Kampala journey again and oh yeah it was still raining and around Nakibizi we came across two cars that had rammed into each other and blame it on no one but the rain because then for some cars which are fairly old the systems are no longer functioning and making the screen as clear as possible is un attainable thus accidents.
Having rained for such a long time some homes along Jinja Kampala highway like Namataba and the Stanbic village were still socked in floods on Easter Monday causing delays and transport scarcity in the process.
Music shows all over the country suffered a similar blow because the organizers depended on the people who had been arrested by the same rains. K-Ci and Jojo show which was slated for the 23.Mar.2008 at Kati Kati did not take off only to be postponed to the 26.Mar.2008.
In Jinja Master Blaster is one of those whose show was affected as the rains could not see the fans through to the location.
Meanwhile the weather forecast department says the heavy rains will last for two months with intense ones expected around April.
