The ODM has threatened fresh strikes in a weeks time if the negotiations do not arrive at a conclusion to bring an end to the conflict that has led to 1,000 dead and 300,000 displaced.
The ODM is demanding for constitutional changes to have a post of Prime Minister created for Raila Odinga something that PNU is reluctant to take on. Mwai Kibaki's position is that he is willing to work with Raila under the current constitution which many feel is due for reforms.
Anyang' Nyong'o, the ODM's secretary general, said: "The ODM proposes that parliament be summoned within the next one week to enact the necessary changes in the constitution to implement these mediation proposals."If that does not happen ODM will resume peaceful mass action."
In the last four days four people have died during the clashes. Food in Kenya is scarce as the clashes affected the planting of crops most especially in the rift valley where most cereals are grown.
Kenyan Airways has been forced to suspend flights to France till the travel advisory there withdraws the ban to travel to East Africa.
