Kyambogo University Supervision Raw Deepens !

A new twist has emerged in the Kyambogo University students supervision raw. Figures of student numbers and amounts spent to facilitate their fieldwork are failing to add-up.

A document from Kyambogo University Bursar’s office seen by Uganda Radio Network shows that each of the 1300 student teachers that are on school practice received 135,149 shillings.

Another document from the same office shows that each of the 1300 students was given 229,276 shillings.

Some of the student teachers however say they received between 2,000 to 3,000 shillings each.

Kyambogo Lecturers have questioned the number of students that have been sent out for Industrial training and teaching practice. One document shows that the University Bursar budgeted for 4383 students while another shows 100 students more.

The science fuculty also quotes different student numbers sent on industrial training. One document says 400 while another quotes 33 more students.

Members of the Kyambogo University Academic Staff (KYUASA) yesterday voted not to supervise fieldwork until the University pays their allowances.

Students have been in the field for three weeks without guidance from their lecturers.
