The official results have not been mentioned yet by Electoral Commission of Kenya in Thursday's poll which has resulted in chaos. Looting, fighting and bloodshed are the order of the day in Kenya. The results that had been released earlier forced the opposition in early celebrations as Raila Odinga of ODM was ahead of the incumbent who is seeking another term in office.
The Electoral Commission in Nairobi has refused to release any more figures as the opposition leader who was way ahead in the polls is trailing behind the incumbent. The ODM and PNU are accusing each other of vote rigging. This simply means that irrespective of who the winner is there is likely to be a continuation of clashes as both candidates are from different tribes.
Raila Odinga has called for a vote recount and national audit in a press conference held this morning. Raila said the process of releasing results so far was a "fraud" and ECK had "doctored the results" in favour of incumbent presidents and Party of National Unity candidate, Mwai Kibaki.
- Mwai Kibaki - 3,842,051
- Raila Odinga -3,880,053
If Odinga wins this will make Kibaki the first of Kenya's three sitting Presidents to be ousted by the ballot box in 44 years. Local TV said several prominent figures had lost their parliamentary seats, including the 2004 Nobel Peace Prize Winner Wangari Maathai & Vice President Moody Awori.
Both parties are claiming victory and the more the ECK delays to announce the winner the more chaotic the country which is a hub to many multinational companies becomes.
