Katinti came out to defend his actions with claims that the mother of his two children was in the custody of five land titles without his consent, "They plan to sell off my property that is located within a prime area... If she can return my titles, all will be well." Katinti added.

Shamim says that her husband is stressed after losing out in the just concluded polls, she is worried that he could resort to selling all the assets to clear the loans on his neck, the reason she opted for a "safer" place for the titles.

Shamim adds that her husband has been violent of late, she recommends that a rehabilitation of sorts could do to address the mood swings.

Speaking to one TV station, Katinti says that Shamim is behaving like that after he asked her to sign the divorce papers.

In all this, Shamim says there is a one Aisha, a married woman who has destabilized her marriage.

"Aisha is the one who controls his finances, they go to church together and not with me, why can't he emulate Bobi Wine who goes to church with his wife Barbie?"

                 "I did not make the right choice..."

"I did not make the right choice, yes she is the mother of two of my children, but all in all, that choice was not good. A case in point, If I had won, all would have been well, but I have lost and here she is taking off with land titles!!!"

Minister Nakiwala Kiyingi was able to comment on the Katiti-Namawa issue and this was her take;

"We are yet to establish the facts on the ground of who is in the wrong between the two, but going forward, they need to be in a harmonious relationship."

"Taking property that is not in your name is wrong. Women do not marry property and if that was the case, you could be asking for a land title for every child you gave birth to. The property is for all the children that the man has and those that are yet to be born, so it is wrong for one to take the property thinking it is theirs alone. We should be careful while handling this matter, because any man who is still alive is the rightful owner of the property."

The minister adds that even if Hon. Katinti wanted to sell his property, it is very okay and it is allowed and you his wife can't stop him if that is what he intends to do.
