Heads of State and Government, TB survivors, affected communities, technical partners, researchers, private sector representatives, and other key stakeholders were in New York  to put TB in the spotlight and our very own Bebe Cool was among them.

This is the first UN High level meeting on Tuberculosis that was graced by at least 40 Heads of State.

Bebe Cool was rubbing shoulders with Bill Gates of Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, H.E. Peng Liyuan, First Lady of China, H.E. Aisha Buhari, First Lady of Nigeria who were part of those that delivered the keynote speeches.

The TB week that kicked off on September 23, 2018 brought together more than 200 leaders in global health, TB survivors, journalists, National TB Ambassadors, and celebrities. It offered a platform to amplify collective voices in calling for urgent political action, to share lessons and push for change and for the case of Uganda, Bebe Cool came in handy being a celebrity and has the number one citizen on speed dial.

During the 'Our Night with the Stars', a Gala dinner to celebrate TB Champions, Bebe Cool thrilled the guests with his Kabulengane dance moves.

The TB Ambassador, Bebe Cool, who was all dressed in black was invited on stage.

"I present to you the artist from Uganda, Bebe Cool, he is so cool," the MC noted.

"Good evening ladies and gentlemen, my name is Bebe Cool from Uganda...I know it's about food right now, but there's no life without being happy, entertainment and stuff like that.
Guess what, in my country when the audience is seated like this, it calls for entertainment, can we be happy, stretch up for a moment."

You brought me here and you should dance to the TB sound.

He then invited a lady from the audience and asked her to say; Kabulengane which is one of his tracks and her response was KabuleMONEY, Kabulengane it is, Bebe clarified.

He then taught her how to shake a little bit to the Kabulengane  tune and occasionally making her turn around leaving the audience in wild cheers with many recording the moment on their cell phones.

"I have done my best to represent the interests of my country Uganda here in New York at the UN high level meeting on TB. I am so honored to have interacted and shared ideas with high level representatives of different countries, dignitaries of global health funders as well as celebrities and several health activists."

Bebe then took a bus ride to go and visit his mom.
