Fashion icon, Sylvia Owori, is not yet done with Bobi Wine's wife Barbie Kyagulanyi after she appeared on a panel to discuss the Powerful Woman topic.
Using a quote from Amilcar Cabral, Owori made her point clear after Bobi Wine and Barbie's fans came after her for the remarks she made on Facebook.
"Hide nothing from the masses of our people. Tell no lies. Expose lies whenever they are told. Mask no difficulties, mistakes, failures. CLAIM NO EASY VICTORIES..…"
"The Celebration of mediocrity in our society must end now," Sylvia Owori added.
This has since been a hot topic from the time Sylvia Owori made a post that has left many of Barbie fans coming full throttle to stand by her.
In the post, Sylvia was commenting on the Geopolitics conference pics that Barbie shared on her wall. In the pics, the French and US Ambassadors to Uganda were among that panelists Bobi Wine's wife had shared the podium with clearly putting her a class apart.
This did not go down well with Sylvia, who posed the question to ask Barbie if she was among the most inspirational women out there, to this she answered back, letting the Fashionista know that, oh yes, she was inspirational and many looked up to her.
However, the issue of Sylvia Owori saying that there were over 1,000 women out there that could be selected from and not Barbie is what guided this response;
"I hope they invite you next time because I know you would fit on this panel just like a million other Inspirational women out there," Barbie noted.
"Sylvia Owori, It's better you put your questions to the French Embassy that invited Barbie and ask them why they didn't invite you or a person of your choice than question Barbie why she was part of that panel," One added.
Who is Sylvia Owori?
One of her fans who has been following this issue keenly tried to put a few pointers that make Sylvia Owori more influential than Barbie and, therefore, the one who could have been on that panel.
In 2000, Sylvia Owori was selected to design the clothes worn by the contestants at the MNet Face of Africa, in Dar es Salaam and Cape Town. The following year, in 2001, she was selected to design the clothes worn by the Ugandan finalist at the Nokia Face of Africa competition.
From 2001 until 2004, Sylvia Owori took charge of organizing the "Miss Uganda Beauty Pageant", thereby expanding her visibility. In 2004, she launched her own clothes line, under the Sylvia Owori label.
In 2005, she launched Africa Woman Magazine, a glossy monthly publication with circulation in Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan and Tanzania.
Owori designed and manufactured the costumes for the lead actors, actresses and part of the cast of the film The Last King of Scotland, released in 2006.
She is also the founder and owner of Zipa Modeling Agency, a leading fashion talent house in the African Great Lakes area.
