Kololo Airstrip was the place to be yesterday as Bebe Cool performed during his Golden Heart Concert. The dome was fully packed as Bebe broke another record by being the first artist to host the President at a concert.

The Batiddemu singer kicked off the show at 10:00pm. It was not long before Bebe Cool invited the guest of honor, President Museveni, to say a word or two to the fans who had graced the concert;

The President who was glad to attend the show talked about the peace Ugandans are enjoying, he was also happy to see his 'grandchildren' (Abazukulu) party all night long, but was quick to add that they need to take precautionary measures against the killer disease, HIV.

"I don't want anyone to interfere with your happiness, we will install cameras all over the city and that program has already started. I want to congratulate Bebe Cool and his team, Catherine Kusasira, and the other singers."

Trust him, he never runs out of jokes!

"I congratulate Bebe Cool on the successful concert. It gives me great joy to see young people performing our traditional beats with modern instruments. These productions should be shared with the world."

"I would like to end by asking you to sing one song for me; 'Kino Kye Kiseela'.

Catherine Kusasira and a one gentleman with two slay queens kicked off with the song doing this line; "Kino Kyekiseela Kyetulina Okulwana, Mubisera Ebyo Mumaso Tufune Emirembe," translated as; "This is the time we need to fight to have peace in future."

That line alone got the President 'dance-matching' attracting wild cheers from the crowd. He then asked Catherine Kusasira to get the full lyrics of the song and come up with a better version, he then walked off after letting them know that the drinks were on the house (on him).

Short of that, all was well apart from the power surge that interrupted his speech. Bebe Cool did his old and new songs, his son Hendrik also did one song. As usual, Silk Events did not disappoint with stage.

The next time Bebe Cool will hold a concert will be in the year 2020, though given a few issues that patrons faced at Kololo like parking their cars several yards away and having to walk long distances considering that, some, had to put their heels off as they staggered to their cars.

Matters were made worse when one had to walk some distance to get to the washrooms, they have now advised Bebe to either go back to Serena or better still try some other venue.

Part of the proceeds from the show will go towards operating expenses in India for children with heart problems.
