After two decades at Sanyu FM, James Onen aka Fatboy called it quits following a 25% salary cut as a result of COVID-19. It is alleged that the breakfast show host led a group of disgruntled staff to reject the move something that led to their being sacked. While appearing on 93.3 KFM, yesterday, Fatboy said it was not true that he had led the staff into a sit-down-strike. The 45 year old said that management had asked them to sign a document expressing their dissatisfaction of the 25% pay cut, they were later told not to report for work. "They just threw me out like a dog without even giving me a chance to explain myself or listen to me, just pushing me out like I'm trash." "I never even got the chance to thank my fans for listening to me all the years. It was so unceremonious how everything just ended. My fans deserved heartfelt thanks for supporting me. I'm eternally grateful. It's an honor." | Sponsored Links

The Sanyu FM management has since asked the staff who could still be interested in their jobs to reapply. Comedian Salvado real name Patrick Idringi has replaced Fatboy for the morning show. Advertisements |
The tweets that were threatening to sue Sanyu FM have since been deleted and the message therein is that their Twitter account had been hacked. Fatboy adds that his phone is busy with calls from people who want to help the affected staff legally, but also, he has been working on so many projects which could come to light after his sacking. With his 21 years on radio, many radio stations could be exploring avenues of getting him on board and could Capital FM be one of them? Not sure for now, but looking at the pic he shared with no caption, his fans are waiting for the details, though their worry is that most car radio FM stations can't seem to have the 91.3 Capital MF frequency.
