Latif later backtracked, but this did not automatically elevate Chameleone to that position, instead, the NUP officials called for fresh applications of those aspiring to be in that office, and, Hon. Nabilah Nagayi Ssempala became the flag bearer for the Kampala Mayor candidate on the National Unity Party (NUP) ticket.

Bebe Cool was asked about this development and his take was that, he and Chameleone expected that outcome and it did not come as a surprise as he explains;

"It is logical and simple, Bobi Wine cannot allow Chameleone to get the NUP ticket when he knows that he will not go through in the Presidential elections..."

"For instance, if Chameleone is voted into office, he will be a Mayor and what will Bobi Wine be? This is a Showbizz game. Just imagine if Chameleone is a Mayor and Bobi Wine is not a President and not an MP!! And that is the sole reason he was denied that slot not anything else," Bebe Cool added.

He concluded that had Chameleone been subscribing to the ruling party, he could have supported him wholeheartedly.
