Kassiano Wadri wins the Arua Municipality By-Election

Kassiano Wadri was on Wednesday night declared the winner of the Arua by-election after obtaining the highest number of votes.

The Electoral Commission Chairman,  Justice Simon Byabakama told all those who had lost not to give up as the year 2021 is not far when they will still be going back to the polls.

You just have to convince the voters and don't resort to violence, we do not want a repeat of  what happened on Monday, Byabakama added. Below are the results for the 12 candidates;

3. Musema Mudathir Bruce - (FDC) - 1369
4. Alekua Ja'far - 38
5. Anguandia Jershem Moses - 196
6. Atiima Jackson Lee Buti - 835
7. Avutia Simoan - 32
8. Bavuga Saffi Aganasi - 19
9. Ejiku Robert - 2694
10. Madira Kennedy -26
11. Nyakuni Alfred - 30
12. Nyero Francis Elton Lokelle-18

Valid votes - 16,476
Invalid votes - 613

Ballots counted - 17,089

Unfortunately for the winner, as the votes were being counted, he was behind bars after being arrested in the Monday scuffle that left several legislators including the Kyadondo East MP Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu arrested.

It is said that Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine was found with a gun and will be produced in the court martial court on Thursday August 16, 2018 in Gulu.
