Uganda is making its presence felt at the Society for Incentive Travel Excellence (SITE) Global Congress in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The Uganda Tourism Board (UTB), working through the Uganda Convention Bureau (UCB), is leveraging this international forum to showcase the country’s appeal for incentive travel programs.

SITE is a prominent global association focused on the incentive travel industry, connecting over 2,000 members worldwide. It serves as a vital platform for networking, education, and professional development for companies and destination bodies involved in creating incentive travel experiences for corporations.

By attending the congress, Uganda gains direct access to global Destination Management Companies (DMCs) and key decision-makers. This engagement is crucial for understanding emerging trends and best practices in the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) sector, thereby enhancing Uganda’s competitiveness.

Incentive travel is recognized as a highly lucrative segment of tourism. Data from SITE suggests that incentive travelers are significant spenders, with an average daily expenditure of around USD 900 per person. For a typical group of 15, this can amount to USD 13,500 per day, offering substantial economic benefits through accommodation, transport, attractions, and dining.

Uganda’s strategic focus on the MICE market is evident in its participation. The UCB is actively engaging with international buyers to build partnerships and promote Uganda’s unique offerings, including its natural landscapes, cultural experiences, and hospitality services.

Uganda joins other African nations like Morocco, South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Eswatini in seeking a larger share of the global incentive travel market. Through such international engagements, Uganda aims to solidify its position as a preferred destination for high-value business events and incentive programs.
