The Uganda Tourism Board (UTB), in collaboration with the Uganda Convention Bureau (UCB), is seizing an opportunity at the Society for Incentive Travel Excellence (SITE) Global Congress in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. This participation aligns with UTB’s commitment to expanding Uganda’s footprint in the lucrative incentive travel market.

SITE is a globally recognized association focused on the incentive travel industry, connecting over 2,000 members across more than 90 countries. It serves as a vital hub for education, industry insights, professional growth, and networking for professionals involved in designing and executing incentive travel programs.

Uganda’s presence at this congress offers direct engagement with global Destination Management Companies (DMCs) and corporate decision-makers responsible for curating incentive trips. It also provides invaluable exposure to emerging trends and best practices in the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) sector, crucial for enhancing Uganda’s competitiveness.

Incentive travel is a high-yield segment of tourism. Data from SITE highlights that incentive travelers are significant spenders, averaging approximately USD 900 per person daily, with typical groups starting at 15 participants. This can translate to substantial economic benefits for host destinations through increased spending on accommodation, transport, attractions, and dining.

Through the Uganda Convention Bureau, UTB is actively promoting Uganda’s unique attractions, including its natural beauty, rich cultural experiences, and quality hospitality infrastructure. The goal is to position the nation as a prime destination for high-value business events and incentive travel, joining other African nations like Morocco, South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Eswatini in recognizing this market’s potential.

This strategic engagement at international platforms like the SITE Global Congress is key to increasing Uganda’s visibility, forging important partnerships, and ultimately attracting more high-value incentive programs. Visit the Uganda Tourism Board for more details on Uganda’s tourism offerings.
