Everton delivered a resounding 3-0 victory against Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, propelling them to seventh place with 46 points from 31 matches, just two points behind Chelsea who stay sixth on 48 points.
Beto opened the scoring in the 33rd minute, capitalizing on a precise pass from James Garner, who shone brightly after earning his first England call-up. Beto struck again shortly after the hour mark, firing through the legs of Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.
With 14 minutes remaining, Iliman Ndiaye sealed the win with a brilliant curling shot into the top corner. This result marks Everton’s largest triumph over Chelsea since 1987 and their first back-to-back home wins at the new Merseyside venue.
Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior was left ruing ‘cheap goals’ conceded, a pattern in their recent form that includes four straight losses across competitions and a Champions League exit to Paris Saint-Germain. ‘The responsibility is with me,’ he told Sky Sports, noting his team’s 4-4-2 setup was comfortable until Everton’s clinical finishing.
James Garner, now with six Premier League assists this season, celebrated the win after a ‘crazy week’ capped by his England selection under Thomas Tuchel.
