Baby Safiat Musenze, born in September 2025 at Kisugu Health Centre in Kampala, initially seemed healthy. But soon after, her parents noticed persistent issues: frequent colds, feeding difficulties, poor weight gain, irritability, and night sweats.

Concerned, Donanto Anyango and Ibrahim Musenze took her to a Kisasi clinic. Doctors spotted breathing problems and referred her to Uganda Heart Institute at Mulago. A cardiac echo confirmed a hole in her heart causing an abnormal murmur.

Paediatric cardiologist Dr. Nestor Mbabazi stressed that open-heart surgery is essential. Without it, Safiat risks heart failure and death. She currently relies on daily medication costing Shs50,000 monthly, which only manages symptoms.

The family cannot afford the procedure, estimated at up to Shs50 million in India (possibly Shs30 million post-evaluation). ‘I want my daughter to live,’ Ibrahim Musenze pleaded, urging public support.

Donations can be sent via mobile money to 0777511222 or 0704924274, or Standard Chartered Bank account 0100819562700 (Ibrahim Musenze).
