During the holy month of Ramadan, the Shia Imami Ismaili Muslim community reached out to 1,000 underserved families in Kampala through the Ismaili CIVIC program.

Distributions occurred at Gaddafi, Kibuli, and Wandegeya mosques, with volunteers aged 15 and older handing out packages containing maize flour, rice, cooking oil, tea, sugar, beans, and other staples.

Ismaili CIVIC embodies a global effort to unite the community in its long-standing tradition of voluntary service. Hamida Amyn, chairperson of the Ismaili Outreach Portfolio, highlighted how these drives foster connections among Muslims, offering support during the fasting period and reflecting values of generosity and dignity.

Beneficiary Ramulata Nakizito, a single mother from Gaddafi Mosque, expressed gratitude for the relief provided to those struggling to afford food while fasting. She prayed for abundant blessings on the donors.

Sheikh Abdulbarri Mohammad of the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council noted receiving many distress calls and welcomed the Ismaili aid, urging other groups to assist needy Muslims.
