Trump Halts Strikes on Iran's Power Grid Amid Ongoing US-Iran Talks

President Donald Trump has decided against striking Iran's power network after productive discussions with Tehran, postponing any military action for five days. The move follows Iran's threats and comes amid a conflict that has disrupted global oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz. President Donald Trump announced on Monday that he is holding off on planned strikes against Iran’s power plants and energy infrastructure. This decision follows recent constructive talks between the US and Iran aimed at resolving hostilities in the Middle East.

Trump shared the update via a post on Truth Social, noting that discussions over the past two days have been positive. He directed the Department of War to delay all such military actions for five days, depending on the outcome of continued negotiations throughout the week.

The announcement came after Iran warned it would target Israel’s power facilities and those supporting US bases in the Gulf if America proceeded. Earlier, on Saturday, Trump had issued a 48-hour ultimatum for Iran to fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a vital route for one-fifth of global oil and LNG shipments, which Iranian actions have effectively blocked.

Markets reacted swiftly, with the dollar dropping and stocks rising on the news. The broader conflict, initiated by US and Israeli actions on February 28, has already claimed over 2,000 lives, spiked fuel prices, and heightened global inflation concerns.
