The government presented a massive Shs6 trillion supplementary budget request to Parliament to cover additional funding requirements across various sectors for the 2024/2025 financial year.

Minister of State for Finance, Planning and Economic Development (General Duties), Hon. Henry Musaasizi, tabled the Supplementary Appropriation (No. 2) Bill, 2025, during the plenary sitting on Thursday, 12 March 2026. The session was chaired by Speaker Anita Among.

This bill targets extra expenditures for the first, second, third, and fourth quarters of the financial year. It aligns with Article 156(3) of the Ugandan Constitution, which mandates parliamentary approval for any spending beyond the initial Appropriation Act.

Article 25 of the Public Finance Management Act, 2015, ensures these requests are thoroughly justified and reviewed. Speaker Among has directed the Budget Committee to examine the proposal and report back to the House.
