Ugandan Muslims celebrated Idd ul-Fitr on March 20, 2026, marking the end of Ramadan with prayers across the country. Religious leaders seized the occasion to push for Sharia courts, highlighting struggles with family conflicts, inheritance issues, and child neglect in the current justice system.

In Jinja City, Sheikh Faiswal Naminya of King Faiswal Mosque stressed that Sharia courts would offer fair, culturally appropriate resolutions, preventing children from turning to crime due to unresolved domestic problems. Similar appeals came from various districts, aiming to reduce the burden on conventional courts and strengthen family bonds.

Prayers extended beyond local issues to global concerns. In Kabale, Khadi Sheikh Kabu Lule called for peace in Iran and other unstable Islamic nations, urging cooperation with non-Muslims and hard work against poverty.

Celebrations featured acts of unity and charity. In Mbale, the Sino-Uganda Mbale Industrial Park donated items worth Shs150 million, including cash and essentials. In Tororo, rival Kadhis publicly reconciled, symbolizing harmony.

Leaders in central Uganda, West Nile, and eastern regions emphasized unity, education, moral conduct, and respect for authorities. Security forces warned of heightened patrols to curb festive crimes like theft and accidents.

District figures like Sheikh Ramadhan Mulindwa Nsanja and Khadi Sheikh Muusa Kadugala warned against divisions and misleading teachings, while calling for political inclusion and economic empowerment.
