From his base in Canada, Ugandan visionary Moses A. Mawa has created a media empire linking Africa to the world. Founding Silvertrust Media in 1996 as a film student, he marked 30 years in the industry this year. The company runs the 24-hour Afroglobal TV channel, launched in 2016, featuring programs like Planet Africa, Destiny, and Arise, alongside movies, music, and documentaries.

Afroglobal TV reaches Canadian viewers via major platforms such as Rogers Cable, Bell Canada, Telus, Eastlink, and Ignite. Mawa also leads the Transformation Institute for Leadership and Innovation, focusing on mentorship for youth and women.

A key highlight is Imagine Uganda, endorsed by Foreign Affairs and launched by President Yoweri Museveni in March 2025 at Kyankwanzi. This effort spotlights Uganda’s strengths in trade, tourism, investment, leadership, and diaspora ties, aligning with Vision 2040 priorities like agro-industrialisation and innovation.

Through magazines, documentaries, podcasts, events, and the Most Influential Ugandans in the Diaspora program, Imagine Uganda boosts Uganda’s global image. Mawa urges media collaborations between Uganda and Canada for cost-effective content production and calls for empowering youth to dream big.

He envisions stronger Canada-Uganda ties in agriculture, tech, and finance, leveraging the diaspora—currently remitting $1.6 billion annually—to drive growth, with tech and AI key to Uganda’s future.
