Speaker Anita Among joined mourners at Christ Church in Gulu for the funeral of Nathan Okori on March 30, 2026. Okori, who died on March 20, was the father of former Speaker Jacob Oulanyah.
Among described Okori as a father figure to her through his son, with whom she shared a close bond. ‘We lost a dad… he had become a father to me,’ she said, reflecting on Oulanyah’s brilliance as a lawyer and leader.
She committed to supporting the family, promising aid for the children’s education and logistics. ‘We will never let the family walk alone,’ Among assured.
Among donated Shs10 million and nine cows, while pledging Parliament’s institutional help. President Yoweri Museveni sent condolences via her, contributing Shs20 million and praising Okori for raising patriotic leaders.
The service attracted dignitaries like former Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo, family, and locals honoring Okori’s impactful life.
