A horrific machete attack at Gaba Early Childhood Development Centre in Kabuuma Zone has left four children dead, shocking communities near Lake Victoria.
The assailant reportedly entered the school by pretending to register a child, deceiving teachers and gaining access to the premises.
Eyewitnesses described how he proceeded to the playground, drew a machete, and attacked children on the seesaw.
A security guard intervened, stopping the attacker as he pursued a fifth child. Police used gunfire and tear gas to prevent an angry mob from lynching the suspect.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Rachael Kawala confirmed the incident, noting the suspect’s connection to a recent nearby killing. His motive and mental state remain under investigation, with Inspector General Abas Byakagaba expected to visit the site.
