A former operative with the Flying Squad Unit, Ronald Kizito, appeared in court facing charges of demanding money with menace after allegedly fabricating a conspiracy to murder case against Ugandan diplomat Robert Mugimba.
The incident unfolded in February 2026 in Ntinda-Nakawa Division, Kampala, where Kizito reportedly lodged a false complaint claiming Mugimba plotted to kill his wife, Sarah Abaho, to extort Shs4m from him.
Mugimba serves as the Economic and Commercial Diplomacy officer at Uganda’s mission in Mogadishu, Somalia. Their connection dates back to the early 2000s, when Kizito posed as a security officer and later offered private investigation services.
Trouble began when Mugimba, suspecting his wife of an affair, hired Kizito for Shs1.5m (paying Shs1m initially). Unsatisfied with vague results and further demands, Mugimba demanded a refund, prompting Kizito’s retaliation.
On February 20, 2026, police raided Ruby Hospital where Mugimba was visiting his sick father, arresting him on the false charges. He was released after questioning but learned Kizito had filed the report and was still demanding payment.
Mugimba reported the matter to the State House Anti-Corruption Unit. Using a covert officer, investigators recorded Kizito admitting he would drop the case for Shs4m, leading to a partial mobile money payment trap and his arrest.
Kizito denied the charges before Senior Principal Magistrate Nicholas Aisu at Nakawa Chief Magistrate’s Court. With investigations ongoing, he was remanded until April 30, 2026.
