Preparations are underway at Ggaba Community Church Grounds for the public trial of Christopher Okello Onyun, the suspect in the tragic April 2, 2026, stabbing incident that claimed schoolchildren’s lives.

The venue, just 100 meters from the school, features a large tent where proceedings will unfold on Monday. Stakeholders from the Judiciary, Police, Prisons, church members, and local leaders met Sunday to coordinate logistics for public attendance and guests.

Court officials anticipate around 1,000 participants, with 500 already accredited—including victims’ families, church representatives, Judiciary staff, and senior officials. The remaining spots will go to early arrivals on a first-come, first-served basis using coupons.

Security measures include a temporary roadblock from 4am at four nearby junctions, spot checks by police and army, and single entry/exit points. High Court members and special guests will use a dedicated path from the school.

Kampala Metropolitan Police Commander ACP Ezekiel Emitu, who led the security briefing, confirmed robust deployments while respecting nearby church and school SOPs.

A public address system is in place for live proceedings, with broadcasts planned on major TV stations. Attendees must avoid bags or extra items for safety.

This community-based mobile court represents a rare approach, delivering justice directly to the affected area.
