A high-level group of Chinese investors has arrived in Uganda, focusing on identifying and developing investment prospects within key economic sectors. Their visit is directly linked to Uganda’s Tenfold Economic Growth Strategy, which targets a substantial increase in the nation’s GDP by 2040.
The delegation, comprised of potential investors, coffee buyers, and industry professionals, is keen on sourcing raw materials, establishing value-added processing facilities, and building business-to-business relationships with Ugandan companies. This initiative is anticipated to yield significant trade and investment results, further solidifying the economic connection between Uganda and China.
During their tour, the investors visited the Kampala Industrial and Business Park, a sprawling 2,200-acre site housing 480 operational factories and many more in development. This industrial hub manufactures a diverse range of products, including plastics, roofing materials, steel, textiles, and oil-based goods.
The itinerary also includes visits to various coffee-related investments and industries already established by Chinese entrepreneurs throughout Uganda.
