Uganda is making a concerted effort to attract Indian investors through a dedicated business forum currently underway in India. The forum is being hosted across three key cities: Ahmedabad, Mumbai, and Chennai.
Organized by the Uganda High Commission in India in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), the event aims to showcase Uganda’s investment potential.
Uganda’s High Commissioner to India, Joyce Kakuramatsi Kikafunda, emphasized the strong bilateral ties between the two nations. She encouraged CII members to leverage these relations by investing in strategic sectors such as agro-industrialization, tourism, mineral development, and science and technology.
Achal Bakeri, Chairman of CII Gujarat, expressed support for the initiative, noting that Indian companies possess the expertise and resources to pursue mutually beneficial investments in Uganda.
A high-level Ugandan delegation is present to promote the country’s trade and investment prospects. This delegation includes representatives from the Uganda Investment Authority, the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, the Uganda Free Zones and Export Promotion Agency, and the Uganda Chamber of Energy and Minerals.
Ambassador Kikafunda and Mr. Bakeri jointly unveiled a report titled “Future Pathways for India in Uganda and Investment Opportunities” during the forum.
The event is continuing its journey to Mumbai before concluding in Chennai.
