Dr. Chris N. Mukiza, Executive Director of the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS), has earned the Rotary Vocational Service Award for his pivotal role in advancing the nation’s statistical systems.

The Rotary E-Club of Ntinda presented the accolade during a special event at Statistics House in Kampala, drawing Rotarians from clubs across the metropolitan area.

Rotary District 9213 Governor Mike Sebalu, the chief guest, lauded Mukiza’s professional excellence and leadership, noting how it embodies Rotary’s principles of integrity and service above self. He emphasized that statistics form the backbone of decision-making, aiding policy, budgeting, and service delivery.

Sebalu credited Mukiza with fortifying statistical capabilities from national to local levels through a meticulous selection process.

In his response, Mukiza expressed gratitude, viewing the award as a testament to UBOS’s collective efforts and a spur to further bolster data production for Uganda’s goals. He linked statistics to Rotary’s community projects, like hospital initiatives, and encouraged staff to join Rotary for broader impact.

Rotary E-Club President Ann Kamugisa praised Mukiza for elevating UBOS’s reputation and supporting government, business, and partners in development.
