Muteesa I Royal University earned their spot in the Pepsi University Football League final by beating St Lawrence University 3-1 in the second leg semifinal at Kavule Ground in Katende. This result ended St Lawrence’s unbeaten home record and advanced Muteesa 3-1 on aggregate following a 0-0 first leg draw in Masaka.

Eric Katende opened the scoring in the 22nd minute with a powerful low shot, exploiting loose defending from the hosts. St Lawrence responded quickly, leveling the score three minutes later through Collin Ssemanda’s stunning left-footed free-kick from just outside the box.

Muteesa regained the lead soon after when Ali Lutwama curled in a precise free-kick. Despite St Lawrence’s push for an equalizer to force their way to back-to-back finals—after last year’s loss to Uganda Martyrs—goalkeeper Sharafah Mukiibi thwarted their chances.

The match was sealed when Brian Rwothomio tapped in a rebound after St Lawrence keeper Mohammad Kateete fumbled a cross. Muteesa now face fellow debutants YMCA, who ousted defending champions Kampala University in the other semifinal.
