Wakiso Boda Boda Rider Arrested for Molesting 8-Year-Old Girl in Viral Video

Police in Wakiso District have detained Moses Ssebagala, a 39-year-old boda boda rider from Mabombwe Village, Mende Sub County, over the aggravated defilement of an 8-year-old girl.

The incident occurred on April 16, when Ssebagala approached the victim and her sister outside. He reportedly gave them a phone to watch cartoons, leading to the assault under a shade at a rental house.

A viral video, filmed through a window during light rain, shows the act being recorded. Another man intervened, stopping Ssebagala and beating him for his actions.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Racheal Kawala confirmed the arrest and condemned all forms of child abuse, urging parents to monitor their children closely.

The 2025 police crime report highlighted 10,492 defilement cases, including 3,473 aggravated ones. Among young victims, 812 were under 8 years old. Regions like Rwenzori West (225 cases) and Kampala Metropolitan North (221) led in aggravated defilement.
