Kigezi Homeboyz entered the weekend with high hopes after FUFA awarded them three points and goals for an unplayed game against Mbale Heroes, who failed to show up. But the Kabale outfit faltered badly in West Nile, losing 2-0 to both Paidha Black Angels and Onduparaka, missing a chance to secure promotion to the topflight.
In Lira, Blacks Power made a strong statement by thrashing Bunyaruguru United 3-0. Rajab Fazil shone brightly, assisting Isaac Okello’s opener in the 30th minute and scoring a stunning free-kick shortly after. Janan Okech’s late strike sealed the victory, putting Blacks Power level with Kigezi on 45 points, though they lead on head-to-head record.
Paidha Black Angels boosted their promotion bid with back-to-back wins, including a 4-0 rout of Soltilo Bright Stars, climbing to third on 43 points. Kataka joined the top four with a 3-1 defeat of Ntugasaze, reaching 41 points, while Ntugasaze dropped to fifth on 40.
At the bottom, Onduparaka’s 2-0 win over Kigezi, powered by goals from Brian Ade and Mahad Agusi, lifted them to 10th and out of the drop zone on 30 points. The Arua side is also hosting a fundraising concert ‘Ondu Pakamiso’ on May 1 to aid their survival push. Mbale Heroes face a steep challenge post-deduction, needing wins in most remaining games, while Wakiso Giants and Catda drew 1-1, staying mired in relegation peril.
