Kitara delivered a strong performance to defeat SC Villa 2-0 in Hoima on Thursday evening, positioning themselves as the primary challengers to league leaders Vipers.

Patrick Kaddu and Yunus Sibira scored the goals, helping Kitara withstand an early onslaught led by Villa’s Patrick Kakande.

Coach Wasswa Bbosa struck a perfect balance between defense and attack after recent criticism for overly cautious play. In the 28th minute, Sibira intercepted Misi Ssemugera and set up Kaddu, whose right-footed shot deflected into the net past Villa keeper David.

Kaddu, Kitara’s top scorer with nine goals, celebrated with flair.

Villa pushed for an equalizer late in the first half, but Jimmy Kalema’s counter found Sibira, who rounded keeper Lukwago to score from a tight angle into an empty net.

Kitara managed the game comfortably afterward, with Bbosa making substitutions ahead of Sunday’s Uganda Cup semifinal against Vipers.
