Police in Uganda’s Apac District are pursuing Moses Auna, a 56-year-old teacher at Atigolwok Primary School in Chegere sub-county. Officers recovered an unmarked SAR rifle from his home in Amiamola Village, Alworoceng Parish, Ibuje sub-county, on April 29, 2026.

The rifle, found without ammunition but in good condition, is now held at Apac Central Police Station. North Kyoga Region Police Spokesperson Patrick Jimmy Okema stated that the seizure resulted from an intelligence-led operation by the Apac joint security team.

Auna is also sought for allegedly urging his brother, Saidi Oume, to kill neighbor Francis Ebong. Oume was subsequently killed by an angry mob. No arrests have occurred yet, and police are urging public cooperation to locate Auna.

Local resident Moses Ekwang claimed Auna inherited the gun from his late brother and used it for hunting antelope near the River Nile.
