Kampala influencer Methia opened up about the realities of her digital life, admitting the economy is taking a toll despite her vibrant online presence.
On the demands of being an influencer, she compared it to Kampala traffic—stressful yet navigable. ‘One minute you are just posting, next you are CEO of lighting, angles, and captions,’ she quipped.
Methia keeps her private side mysterious, preferring to protect her peace. Her go-to excuse for skipping events? ‘I am swamped’—a kind lie for self-care.
She humorously embraced being ‘premium content,’ one of those humans God created on a well-rested day. On relationships, she’s learned that ‘I can change him’ never works.
Touching on Ugandan politics, Methia named Speaker Anita Among as having the most ‘main character energy’ and criticized some leaders for not grasping real Kampala struggles, like cramming six on a boda.
She’d trust a Kampala DJ over a politician with her heart, praising DJs for their smooth transitions. Fans approach her differently online—some shy, others overly familiar—but she insists, ‘I am good people, so there is nothing to fear.’
Authenticity rules her brand deals, and she reads comments for fun but logs out to protect her peace. Adulthood, she says, is ‘unnecessary panic,’ and she’s manifesting money without the grind.
Ultimately, Methia is building a brand for respect, chasing clout for attention, making money for survival, and enjoying Kampala for her mental health.
