Patrick Katungi was searching desperately for his 12-year-old son Victor, who vanished from his school in Kisubi along Entebbe Road on April 23, 2026, around 9pm. After an anxious eight-day hunt, good news came on May 1 while he headed toward Masulita Children’s Village in Wakiso.
At about 10am, Patrick got a call on Victor’s phone from a doctor at a clinic in Migongwe trading centre, Kyegegwa district—over 190km from Kampala. The doctor said the boy, unconscious and bruised, had named his father before stabilizing.
Rushing to Kyegegwa, Patrick arrived by 1pm and found Victor on a clinic bed with plasters on wounds around his waist waist, elbows, Henry Bwambale, the nurse at NMK Trinity clinic, explained that passersby had brought the dehydrated, hungry child from the roadside.
Patrick drove Victor to The Surgery hospital in Naguru for checks, which revealed no internal injuries beyond fatigue and surface wounds. The boy was soon discharged and is now recovering at home.
Questions linger over how Victor reached Kyegegwa. Patrick dismissed social media rumors of school or police involvement, noting no contact from the school. He plans to question Victor later when he’s ready, avoiding further trauma.
The class teacher, Benard Mangeni, said the matter is under police probe and they await official word from Patrick, as reports varied on the location.
Police had directed the school to issue a public statement on April 26, but none came until after the reunion.
