Formidables Masters Swimming Gala Set for Exciting Second Edition

Preparations are in full swing for the second Formidables Masters Swimming Gala, scheduled for May 2 at Waves Fitness Harbour in Ntinda. The hosts dominated the inaugural event last year, which drew 180 swimmers and helped Uganda Aquatics select a team for the Zone III Championships in Nairobi.
Formidables remain favorites to outperform rivals like Sailfish, Malta, and Dolphins. Club representative Henry Kakooza noted their team has about 80 swimmers, with total participation expected to reach 240 from 15 clubs, including one from Tanzania. He highlighted the rapid growth in masters swimming.
The event will blend sports and fun, featuring a pool party tradition. Uganda Aquatics president Moses Mwase praised Formidables and Sailfish for filling the masters swimming gap, encouraging more clubs to host similar galas.
Last year, these events were so effective that UAq skipped its own masters competition.
