Olympique Lyonnais secured their place in the Women’s Champions League final after a thrilling 3-1 victory over holders Arsenal at home, clinching a 4-3 aggregate triumph.

The French side, eight-time winners previously known as Olympique Lyonnais, started brightly. An early set-piece goal was ruled out, but they soon took the lead via a penalty. Melchie Dumornay was brought down in the box by Lotte Wubben-Moy, confirmed after VAR review.

Captain Wendie Renard converted from the spot on her second attempt, following an initial save due to the keeper’s premature movement.

Kadidiatou Diani extended the lead to 2-0 just before halftime, volleying in from a corner and giving Lyon a 3-2 aggregate advantage.

Arsenal, who had won the first leg 2-1, fought back with Alessia Russo equalizing in the 76th minute, tapping in Smilla Holmberg’s cross.

Tension mounted as extra time loomed, but Jule Brand sealed progression in the 86th minute with a precise left-footed finish from Dumornay’s pass.

Lyon will face Barcelona or Bayern Munich in the final in Oslo on May 23. Bayern visit Barcelona on Sunday after their first-leg 1-1 draw.
