Manchester United clinched a thrilling 3-2 victory over rivals Liverpool in the Premier League, thanks to a late strike from Kobbie Mainoo. The win guarantees United’s spot in next season’s Champions League, ending a two-year absence.

United surged ahead early at Old Trafford, with Matheus Cunha netting in the sixth minute and Benjamin Sesko adding a second eight minutes later.

Liverpool mounted a comeback in the second half. Dominik Szoboszlai pulled one back in the 47th minute after Amad Diallo’s error on the halfway line. Cody Gakpo then equalized nine minutes later, capitalizing on a misplaced pass from Senne Lammens straight to Alexis Mac Allister.

The match looked headed for a draw until Mainoo unleashed a shot from the edge of the box in the 77th minute, sparking wild celebrations among the home fans.

This result lifts third-placed United to 64 points with three matches remaining. Fourth-placed Liverpool, on 58 points, must battle to secure Champions League qualification, sitting level with fifth-placed Aston Villa who hold a game in hand.
