Gideon Murungi, aka Scott, a Dubai-based trainer and owner of Scott Sports Nutrition, put up Shs5m in a bold powerlifting challenge against a three-man team. Only two showed up—Ernest Totti and Steven Gidudu—who vowed to humiliate him and claim the cash at the Iron Gladiators event in Bulenga on Saturday.
Totti and Gidudu started strong in squats, with Totti hitting 200kg, 215kg, and 220kg for 635kg total, while Gidudu managed 590kg. Scott outlifted them easily: 215kg, 230kg, and 245kg for 690kg.
Bench presses were tougher for all, but Scott led with 445kg (140kg, 150kg, 155kg) against Gidudu’s 335kg and Totti’s 365kg.
The deadlift sealed it. Gidudu failed twice at 215kg, totaling with Totti at 1110kg combined. Scott powered through 250kg, 265kg, and 280kg effortlessly, smiling for the crowd after each.
Scott’s grand total of 1325kg beat the pair by 215kg. Totti admitted, ‘We need to work harder; he’s a class above.’ Scott aimed to inspire Ugandans, marking his powerlifting debut and openness to national team selection.
Rajab Galiwango, aka Nyondo, issued a future challenge, which Scott gladly accepted.
