Family and friends gathered on Sunday to mark one year since the passing of Rajiv Ruparelia, son of prominent businessman Sudhir Ruparelia and a keen rally driver.

Rajiv died on May 3, 2025, in a tragic accident at the Munyonyo Expressway Roundabout. Driving his Nissan GTR from Kajjansi, he hit temporary barriers at the flyover, lost control, and the car burst into flames, claiming his life instantly.

To honor his memory, Sudhir Ruparelia and wife Jyotsna, along with relatives, donated 20 prosthetic legs to Mulago National Referral Hospital’s orthopedic department. The gesture aims to restore mobility and hope to limb-loss patients, echoing Rajiv’s lifelong passions.

“It’s been one year since he left us. This fulfills what Rajiv loved doing,” Sudhir stated at the event.

Motorsport enthusiasts reflected on Rajiv’s contributions to Uganda’s rally scene. Veteran driver Ponsiano Lwakataka urged keeping his legacy alive, suggesting his rally car return to competitions.

The commemoration merged tribute with charity, extending Rajiv’s impact through community support.
