As the school term wraps up, Mengo Senior School organized an inter-house Music, Dance and Drama (MDD) event, where students from its eight houses displayed talents in music, poetry, and drama.
Headteacher Grace Nantajja Ssebanakita explained that these activities aim to balance academic pursuits with talent exploration. ‘We ensure learners discover their God-given gifts through competitions in music, drama, and poetry,’ she noted.
She highlighted the collective duty of parents, educators, and authorities to develop these abilities, pointing out that many students may thrive as musicians, athletes, or artists.
Concerns were raised about waning parental engagement, with a call for families to monitor their children’s activities, friendships, and interests at home to foster success.
Deputy Headteacher Jeremiah Mugerwa, overseeing co-curriculars, promoted a well-rounded education approach. He emphasized that talents can provide life skills and opportunities even if academics are challenging, allowing students to blend both for achievement.
George House clinched victory, earning two bulls and five scholarships.
