Musu clan issued a strong statement in the opening match of the 2026 Airtel Bika Cup, defeating Nte 3-1 under the floodlights at Muteesa II Stadium Wankulukuku. The vibrant crowd witnessed Musu’s early dominance with goals from Martin Nsimbe in the 8th minute and Badru Nsimbe’s header on 17 minutes, securing a 2-0 lead.

Nte pushed back in the second half but couldn’t overcome the deficit. Musu added a third goal in the 67th minute through a fluid team attack, with Nte scoring a consolation late on. In the other football match, Mmamba narrowly beat Ngeye 1-0 thanks to Peter Kaye’s strike.

Netball action was equally thrilling, with Nnyonnyi Nnyange edging Olulyo Olulangira 34-30, Nte crushing Njovu 40-0, Ngeye defeating Ngabi Nsamba 26-23, Kkobe overcoming Omutima Omusagi 35-32, and Mpindi routing Njaza 40-0.

The Bika Cup unites over 52 Buganda clans in football and netball, with 40 clans in the football draw. It starts with knockouts to the Round of 16, then shifts to four groups, leading to quarterfinals, semifinals, and final. Ngabi Nsamba enter as defending champions after last year’s penalty win over Ndiga.

Airtel Uganda’s Sales Director Ali Balunywa highlighted its role in fostering unity and talent. Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga, who opened the event, called for support from the Kabaka’s subjects, emphasizing values of unity, identity, and discipline.

Unlike the county-focused Masaza Cup, Bika celebrates clan rivalries in a festival format and serves as a key talent feeder for bigger leagues.
