45-Year-Old Woman Detained for Forcing 8-Year-Old Stepson to Swallow 46 Needles

Police in Mitooma District have taken 45-year-old Juliet Tushabeomwe into custody after she allegedly forced her eight-year-old stepson to swallow 46 sewing needles during a two-week period.
The abuse was uncovered when the boy endured severe abdominal pain for nearly two weeks. His aunt, Eunice Birungi, grew worried and sought medical help, leading to the discovery of the needles.
Surgeons at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital removed the objects, and the child is now receiving specialized care there.
Greater Bushenyi Police Commander Godfrey Achiria confirmed the arrest, noting that investigations continue to assess the full scope of the mistreatment.
