Bayern Munich stand one match away from the Champions League final, with coach Vincent Kompany rallying his squad and supporters for Wednesday’s crucial semi-final return against Paris Saint-Germain.
Kompany highlighted a shared belief within the team and fanbase that they can advance, noting few expected them to reach this stage with a home game deciding their fate.
‘There is this feeling that together we will take the next steps,’ the Belgian coach stated at a press conference. ‘Now we are here, we have experienced great moments and the fans believe we will make it and together we want to make this moment unforgettable.’
PSG, last year’s inaugural winners, snatched a thrilling 5-4 first-leg win after Bayern mounted a comeback from 5-2 down in the second half.
In Kompany’s second season, Bayern have already lifted the Bundesliga trophy and eye a domestic double via the German Cup final against VfB Stuttgart on May 23.
Despite the high stakes at home, Kompany projected serene composure. ‘Total calmness, internal calmness,’ he said, focusing on routine preparation and delivering the perfect motivational words to tip the scales.
‘We want
‘We want to win the match. We have ideas that we believe will help us do that. The most important thing is to win the game and that is the priority,’ he affirmed.
