The Busoga sub-region is publicly commending a number of its appointed ministers for their impactful contributions to local development and community welfare.

Several politicians from the region, now serving as ministers in various capacities, are being lauded for their efforts that extend beyond mere political appointments. These efforts include significant support for crucial infrastructure projects, enhancements in education and healthcare facilities, and initiatives aimed at economic empowerment for residents.

A standout area of appreciation is the ministers’ support for community events, particularly burial ceremonies. Many residents acknowledge the financial assistance and provision of essential items like tents, chairs, and equipment for these occasions, a practice common in rural Uganda where community leaders often step in during times of need.

Among those praised is Minister for the Presidency, Milly Babalanda, who has reportedly supplied saucepans, plates, and tents to numerous villages in Buyende District. She is also credited with rehabilitating local roads and providing start-up capital for Savings and Credit Cooperative Societies (SACCOs) to foster business growth and reduce poverty.

State Minister for Cooperatives, Fredrick Ngobi Gume, is recognized for personally funding the acquisition of land for the construction of seed schools in Kaliro District. Meanwhile, State Minister for Fisheries, Fred Bwino Kyakulaga, has introduced maize mills, tractors, and a potato processing factory in Iganga District.

Third Deputy Prime Minister, Rukia Nakadama Isanga, has been instrumental in street lighting for Mayuge town and establishing a skilling center for school dropouts. In Kamuli, Minister for East African Affairs, Rebecca Kadaga, is celebrated for her support to education and equipping health centers.

Minister for Lands, Housing, and Urban Development, Persis Namuganza, has also made a mark by funding the establishment of over 150 fish ponds to boost local incomes.

These ministers are part of the broader cabinet appointed in 2021, and their tangible contributions have resonated positively with the communities they represent.
