A 47-year-old businessman, John Peter Murwana, is facing charges of murder and attempted murder following an incident at his Kampala home. Murwana appeared before the Makindye Magistrate’s Court on Thursday and was remanded to Luzira Prison.
According to the prosecution, Murwana allegedly shot and killed Kevin Atwijukye, the lover of his house help, Joan Narima. He is also accused of shooting and injuring Narima in the arm.
The alleged incident occurred on April 26, 2026, at Murwana’s residence in Kalungu Zone, Bunga Parish, Makindye Division. It is reported that Atwijukye had visited Narima at her quarters on the property. After being informed of the visitor, Murwana allegedly returned home, confronted Narima at her door, shooting her before fatally shooting Atwijukye as he attempted to flee.
As the charges are serious, Murwana could not enter a plea. The magistrate informed him that he has the right to seek bail at the High Court.
Murwana will remain in custody until June 11, 2026, when the case will be brought for further mention.
