Paul Rackara, a prominent crowd-puller in the Uganda Boxing Champions League, is making a comeback to the league’s fifth season. Known for his captivating ring walks, often featuring cultural performances from the Watmon Cultural Group, Rackara brings a unique blend of aggressive boxing and showmanship.

Rackara had previously left the league after its third season in December 2024 to pursue a professional career, where he remained undefeated in four bouts, winning all by stoppage. His return follows a decisive welterweight gold medal win at the National Open Championship in April.

Despite his recent success, Rackara narrowly missed qualification for the upcoming Commonwealth Games. Instead, the spot went to Nuhu Batte, a two-time welterweight champion. Rackara has now publicly challenged Batte, proposing a three-round fight to gauge his opponent’s capabilities and prove his own superiority.

“I want to test his sharpness in three rounds to show the public whether he is the best to represent Uganda at the Commonwealth Games,” Rackara stated from the House of Steel Gym in Naguru. He emphasized his recent professional success and his continued dominance in amateur boxing, highlighted by his performance at the National Open.

Rackara’s distinctive ring entrances, which celebrate Acholi culture, are a significant draw for fans. Members of the Watmon Cultural Group express unwavering support, viewing Rackara not only as a boxer but also as a cultural ambassador and a role model for the youth.
