NRM to Facilitate Over 10,000 Leaders for Museveni's Swearing-in Ceremony

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) party is set to cover the transportation costs for more than 10,200 of its leaders to attend the swearing-in ceremony of President Yoweri Museveni, scheduled for May 12.
These invited delegates, representing party structures from 146 districts and cities, will journey to the capital, with travel funds being disbursed through district offices. The amount allocated for transport varies by region, with delegates from Karamoja receiving the highest facilitation due to longer distances, up to Shs140,000, while others like those from Sebei and Kigezi will receive between Shs20,000 and Shs40,000.
In addition to transport, the NRM has budgeted Shs200,000 per official for accommodation and over Shs300 million for district-level publicity efforts to foster a national celebratory mood. These funds will support activities such as hiring sound systems, vehicles, fuel for mobilization drives, and facilitating journalists for live broadcasts.
NRM Spokesperson Emmanuel Dombo clarified that while the swearing-in ceremony is a government function, the party’s funding is solely for enabling its leaders to participate and celebrate with their National Chairman. The party aims to maintain political momentum alongside these preparations, with Secretary General Richard Todwong urging for the immediate verification of village-level party structures ahead of upcoming grassroots elections.
