The 2026 Uganda Rugby Premiership season is nearing its conclusion, and player recruitment has emerged as a defining narrative, with several signings making a substantial impact.
Shakim Sembusi, who moved from Walukuba Barbarians to Plascon Mongers, has been particularly transformative. In nine games, Sembusi has amassed 103 points, including four tries, and demonstrated excellent goal-kicking accuracy. Beyond his statistics, he has been instrumental in controlling the tempo and territory for Mongers.
Allan Olango’s switch to Victoria Sharks has brought a direct and decisive impact. He has scored six tries in nine matches, showcasing his ability to break open games and be the difference-maker for his team.
Davis Shimwa has added efficiency to Stanbic Black Pirates since his move from Rhinos. Despite limited appearances, he has scored two tries and reinforced the depth of the league leaders. Yasin Waiswa has brought balance to Toyota Buffaloes after joining from Hippos. He has contributed 63 points, including a try, and provided crucial composure in tight matches.
Brian Wandera completes the list of top performers, having scored five tries in eight games for Kobs since his transfer from Rams, adding pace and unpredictability to their attack.
Other notable contributions include David Wako (Heathens), Brighton Bakasa (Kakira Simbas), and William Lukwago (Kobs), among others, who have all strengthened their new teams.
