Vision Volleyball Camp (VVC) is gearing up for a crucial Game Three clash against KCCA in the National Volleyball League finals. The teams are tied 1-1, setting the stage for an anticipated showdown.
VVC’s last competitive match was on April 8th, a 3-2 victory over KCCA that forced a decider. The subsequent month-long break, largely due to KCCA’s participation in the CAVB Women’s Club Championship in Cairo, has presented a unique challenge.
However, VVC’s head coach Hannington Nsubuga stated that the team will not use the break as an excuse. “It kills the rhythm, but we will not take it as an excuse,” Nsubuga told Daily Monitor, emphasizing that his players remain focused and prepared for the championship match.
KCCA enters the final with a reputation for structured play, discipline, and squad depth, having finished 12th in the African Club Championship. Their experience in high-pressure situations could be a significant advantage.
On the other hand, VVC has emerged as a dynamic force, notably eliminating the top-seeded KCB-Nkumba in the postseason. Their energetic and fearless style, coupled with strong attacking play led by Ketty Aluka, has made them a formidable opponent.
The match is expected to feature an intense battle at the net, with VVC’s aggressive hitters challenging KCCA’s organized defense. Key matchups include Faith Magole and Agnes Akanyo for KCCA against Olivia Kwagala and Lydia Asimo for VVC.
Beyond the tactical nuances, the psychological aspect will be crucial. KCCA faces the pressure of expectation, while VVC, as the underdog, likely plays with less pressure and a strong desire to prove themselves.
The National Volleyball League finals decider between KCCA and VVC will take place on Saturday at the Old Kampala Arena at 7 pm.
