Leaders Hail Katikkiro Mayiga's 13 Years of Transformative Leadership

Buganda Kingdom’s Prime Minister, Charles Peter Mayiga, has been celebrated for his 13 years of service by a diverse group including clergy, corporate leaders, and cultural advocates. Attendees at a recent event marking his anniversary praised his “transformative leadership” and his success in fostering unity among the people of Buganda, both within Uganda and in the diaspora.

During the celebration held at his official residence, speakers highlighted Mayiga’s efforts in strengthening the kingdom’s institutions, championing development projects, and safeguarding Buganda’s rich cultural heritage. Archbishop Samuel Kajoba of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church described Mayiga as a focused and resilient leader, emphasizing the divine guidance in his leadership journey.

Nation Media Group-Uganda Managing Director Susan Nsibirwa also commended Mayiga, noting the kingdom’s vital role in social transformation and civic responsibility. She pointed out visible achievements in various sectors, including improved livelihoods, education, health, and cultural preservation, which have maintained the kingdom’s relevance and attracted corporate partnerships.

Mayiga, who assumed office in 2013, stated that his leadership has focused on mobilizing subjects for development, promoting cultural values, and reinforcing administrative structures. Key initiatives have targeted education, health awareness, environmental conservation, and household income improvement, alongside efforts to restore kingdom properties and infrastructure.

Lubaga South MP Eugenia Nassolo further praised Mayiga’s leadership style for ensuring stability and unity within the kingdom, recognizing the crucial role cultural institutions play in community mobilization and social development.
